Some reviews and recommendations :)

Okay. to all manga fans out there who read my blog.. here are some must reads.. :)

For those who like serious not-really-comedy kinds of genre (drama, romance) read:

1. Hana Yori Dango
Made into drama series.. i'm sure you've heard the Taiwanese 'Meteor Garden', Japanese 'Hana Yori Dango' and now they also have a Korean version. I'm sure you guys know roughly what the story's like but here's a link to the summary:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=328

it's really good, trust me. you'll love it. :) one great work by Kamio Youko.

2. Akuma de Sourou
This manga was also made into a drama series.... heard of the Taiwanese 'Devil Beside You'? starring Rainie Yang and Mike He.. lol though i seriously think the manga is so much better.. the art is great too! i always love Takanashi Mitsuba's works.. :) this manga's bout u know.. love between unrelated-siblings.. ;) . i love takeru in there, btw. he's just so... ah~bishounen! HAHAHAHAHA
summary link:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1337

3. Mars
This one was also made into a Taiwanese Drama series starring Barbie Xu and Vic Zhou (both of them also starred in the taiwanese Meteor garden.. Barbie Xu=Makino, Vic Zhou=Rui)
this one's a little sad.. coz there are lots of 'deep' stuff to it.. and lots of screwed up depressed characters there but it's a beautiful romance story and the art's good too.. so yes. it's a must as well.. :) summary link:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1067

4. Cat Street
This is also one good manga that i've just found recently.. another great work by Kamio Youko(yes, she's the author for Hana Yori Dango).. it's really deep and touching, a bout this former child actress who is a recluse and shut herself from society.. then attends this El Liston school which is a free school where people like her attend.. :) lots of beautiful friendships! :) a must read! :) summary link:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=423

5. Paradise Kiss
This one is by Ai Yazawa(the one who wrote Nana) and its bout fashion... its good too, and was made into an anime :) here's the link:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1144

6. Gokinjou Monogatari
this is also by Ai Yazawa, and its the prequel to Paradise Kiss, which tells the story of Miwako's sister, Mikako (who later created the Happy Berry brand).. its also good, and honestly i prefer this one to Paradise Kiss because it has more of .. you know.. a direction, a goal and dream to achieve along with more talented people .. also more pure withouth so many sex scenes.. hahhaa :) link: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=358

btw, i should give a warning here.. Ai Yazawa's works have a special kind of feel to it... and i'm meaning the art.. coz they are all really skinny with really long limbs.. lol...

Hmm.. i think that's all i can think of right now.. other favourites with genres like adventure, sport, horror, mystery:

1. Slam Dunk [Sport, comedy]
this is about basketball.. Sakuragi Hanamichi a pitiful freshman who has never failed to be rejected by girls all his 15 years of life! just as he was about to give up hope on love, he met the cute Haruka, which is the sister of the basketball captain in the school. to chase after his new 'blossoming spring' he joins the basketball team and realises he also has some talent in basketball. he meets his nemesis, Rukawa Kaede who is the ace of the basketball team and hanamichi's rival in love..(only one sided though). the basketball team form a group of good players: Center: Akagi(captain), Forward: Miyagi, Rukawa, Hanamichi and Mitsui(3-pointer). then start Shohoku's basketball journey through many tournaments till they reach the Nationals. very nice and funny manga which has inspired many to play basketball lol not to mention they have lots of bishies there (eg Rukawa, Sendoh and Fujima) hahhaha. about 32 volumes long, and a must read. :)
btw, the art sort of changes along the way so their faces at vol1 will be slightly different and vol32. lol

2. Groove Adventure Rave [Adventure, Fantasy, Comedy]
this is a very good manga for laughter.. lotsa weird creatures and funny expressions. an adventure story. summary link: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1150
it was also made into an anime, featuring the first arc. :) i'm gonna collect the whole series so you can probably give it a high rating :)

3. Detective Academy Q [Horror, Mystery, Comedy]
there's also an anime for this, and both are good.. though the manga has more cases. this is abit more realistic than the Hajime Kindaichi one, coz they do their detective work in a group.. :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=4106

4. The Files of Hajime Kindaichi [Horror, Mystery, Comedy]
this is also made into an anime though it's pretty old. it's older than detective academy Q, but it's good too. the cases are intriguing as well, main guy is Hajime Kindaichi. maybe you can say it's romance as well because he likes Miyuki, his childhood friend who follows him around.. (she likes him too lol).

btw, these two works (Detective Academy Q and Hajime Kindaichi) by Satou Fumiya are all based on mostly murder cases with dead bodies etc.. and the killer is usually someone they know. a bit typical kind of story with each case, but the interesting part is how they solve the mystery. both are good mangas to read!

5. Rabbit Doubt [Horror, Mystery]
this one is a new one and still ongoing, by Tonogai Yoshiki. story's bout this murderous game, full of doubt, mistrust and betrayal. summary: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=18068 .. this one is up to you to read it.. to me, i read it coz it's different and abit creepy. lol i still like it though hahahaa

then others which are romance, comedy, school life:
1. Her Majesty's Dog
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=4880
still ongoing i think. it's a cute story, but as it progresses, it becomes a bit sadder.. :(

2. Cheeky Angel
this one's a must, and it's really really funny. i'm collecting this series and its sad to know that it's not that recognised and famous. sigh. sometimes good mangas are underestimated. but although the art isn't as good as others, it still is a MUST read. :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=5090

3. GTO
this one's pretty famous, there's an anime and also a drama. its mainly school life, story similar to gokusen yet different, showing how a perverted-gangster male teacher deals with students with issues. quite touching, and also has a little romance to it:) its GOOOD. i have the whole complete series :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=185

4. Skip Beat
personal favourite, a treasure i've just found out only recently. it's about show business and the entertainment world. it's really good. with lots of extreme expressions which undoubtly adds to the humour. lol art's good too i should say. :). and yes absolutely recommended! there's an anime for it too, and it's ongoing. SHOULD WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm considering to collect this series :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=376

5. Perfect Girl Evolution
an absolute MUST WATCH. this is not something you should miss. art's good.. (though some might say weird) and its really funny and its sweet at the same time. :) there's also an anime for this, already completed last year.. so GO AHEAD AND WATCH! though i would say that the manga is better than the anime coz its longer and has more episodes?lol
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1258

6. Dengeki Daisy
love the art for this one, and it's touching and funny at the same time. there are extreme expressions, which adds to the humour. same artist as beast master, which is also another wonderful work. :) http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=13582
it's ongoing btw.

7. Beast Master
this one is one of the best short volume mangas that i've ever read. i remember how i've always anticipated the next scanlated chapter's release. it's complete now though. GO AHEAD AND READ IT. Motomi Kyousuke sure does really nice works. :) a must read.
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=9980

8. Special A
there's an anime for this one, but DON'T WATCH IT. it'll ruin the whole thing. the anime is bad bad bad. the manga is absolutely lovely though. beautiful art, and nice funny expressions they have there. and it's still ongoing. http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1858

9. F.I.V.E
this is one of the good mangas that i love. unfortunately, updates for releases of chapters are really slow. it's still ongoing.. but i somehow (dunno why) really love this manga. :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1819

10. Gakuen Alice
still an ongoing manga. main characters Mikan, Ruka, Natsuma and Hotaru are all still in elementary school, 11 year olds. yes it might sound childish but as you read more and more, you find that there's more to it than just some immature story bout kids. and they are more mature than they seem. it's really a good one to read, and it gets better and better as the story proceeds from the beginning to the end. also one manga i'm considering of collecting. :) there's also an anime to it, but the anime only shows the beginning part of the story, so many might think of it as childish but it won't hurt to watch it too. :) i loved it from the anime hahahha.
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=179
it's supernatural btw. with powers they possess, called "Alices". :) enjoy.

11. Akuma to Love Song
this is still ongoing, and a story that i'm following constantly despite the slow releases. but its okay coz it's one of my favourites. :) http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=11243

sorry.. its quite late already so i'm lazy to leave my comments.. haha just read the summaries for now..
12. Aishiteruze Baby
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=123

13. Daa Daa Daa!
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=879

14. Hana Kimi
very good. recommended. it's scanlation is complete as well. sure you've heard of the taiwanese drama "hanakimi: Hua yang sao nian sao nu" and the Japanese drama, "Hanazakarino Kimitachie" which means 'for you in full bloom'. a MUST READ full of comedy. :)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=2

15. Ouran High School Host Club
funny, must read. but if u don't want to, watch the anime. anime's good too.

16. Heaven
must read. very funny, the expressions are extremely funny. though i have a feeling no one's scanlating them anymore. :( what a waste.
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=716

hmm that's all i can think of now.. there's more really good ones but i can't remember them off hand.. :) when i do i shall do them in another post hehe...

a half happy/sad

Happy? coz highschool studying is finally done.
Sad? pfft. its so obvious isn't it?

Last week: Omi left without saying goodbye. it'll be ages till i see her again.
Day before yesterday: Melbu and Isha left. it'll be ages till i see them again.
Yesterday: Wanyu & Wanshing: it'll be ages till i see them again.
This Saturday: Bev and Reen. it'll be ages till i see them again.

There's more really. and truth is, its not really like i won't be seeing them again, since i've already promised a visit to Spore & KL, and they are welcoming me with wide open arms. but after that........ we probably won't be seeing each other again.

it's funny how you meet people in your life. and i guess its fate whether or not we actually meet someone. that's why we treasure each other so much. why i say its fate-its coz we could have gone somewhere else, some other school, some other country. I didn't have to come to Australia because I had the option of remaining in Penang and going to Uplands. I didn't have to come to MLC because I could have gone to St. Hildas. I didn't have to go to Year 10 because by right, i should have gone to Year 11. I'm sure that everyone of us also feels the same. We all could have been somewhere else, and yet we came here, to MLC, the Year 12 Graduates of 2008.

looking back, i realised that ever since i came here, i've learnt alot of things. i've learnt to appreciate everything that came. holding things important to you dearly, and always looking at the bright side of things. i became more positive. i've learnt to love who you are inside, and love your roots. yes, that was one of the greatest lessons i've learnt here. being in a different place with a different culture and where everyone's hair and skin colour are so different that you find your differences special. i actually felt, "i thank god i'm asian and that i'm chinese" compared to the me back then who always thought of the angmohs as one level higher than us.

coming here, i've learnt that not everyone thinks like you do, and not everyone is like you. everyone has different personalities and characters that you have to have their feelings in mind. things that you think are okay may not be for someone else, and things that they think are okay may not be so for you. everyone is different, each with their own minds and perspectives, special with every individual. and thats why we respect each other's views.
i've learnt to accept differences, to be more considerate and understanding.
i've learnt to adapt.

all of the people i've met here, and those that i will meet again, all of them--> a wonderful cohort full of vigor, life and smiles. yes. smiles. always cheerful and bright, always brightening up my day. being with you guys always made me smile and lift up my spirits whenever i'm feeling down. and i'm sure it's not only me who feels like this, but each and everyone of you guys as well.

i truly respect the boarders for being able to live with each other for 3 years. no doubt it was not easy living with so many people together all the time for 3 years straight. with so many people with so different personalities, i doubt it was an easy task. they had to be accepting, tolerant and considerate, being faced with 'true colours' 24/7. alot of things daygirls don't know bout certain people, they know all. as a result, they have all grew in maturity into an amazing bunch of people.

the rest of us daygirls (whom i think we all at one time wished we were boarders) treasured our freedom we had and had our own traditions. Pon-ing PE, the whole day, going to ct after P.E. on Wednesdays week Bs, bbt/neoprints/tfusion/sing k on last days of school (since year10), lunching in the library, cursing librarians, rereading the very few jap magazines availabe and saying "shit she's so pretty/thin/nice hair/eyes etc" and lots more. damn. we're so gonna miss all these.

times we had together, like during lunch, going out, sing k, socials (though i didn't go to many), and afters.... all of them never fail to be fun. i bet we all have fond memories of those times we were together, especially this year. despite me being here for 3 years, i've really gotten closer to more people this year, and i'm really glad for that.

finally just wanted to say that i am really glad to have met and known you guys, and came to mlc. all these times we had together, we'll remember forever.(wow that rhymes) here, i've met lots of fascinating, beautiful and wonderful people, those that i can't trade for with anyone else. you guys are special and important to me.
and i thank you guys for being my friends.

Thank you. my friends.

now as one chapter comes to an end, a new one is about to start.
we'll all be chasing dreams and enjoying life. won't we? :)

Keep in touch always. chat/calls/facebook/visits. use whatever means we have. because we'll promise each other a friendship forever.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

80% complete.

hohohohohoho.
4/5 done = 80% complete. though it already feels like 100%. hahaha. sucks to feel like freedom is so within your grasp but not really. so close, yet so far. damn.

so TEE for me is partially over. was alright so far, or should i say i have done my best and yes; Absolutely NO REGRETS at all.

oh but probably the fact that i should have done more Lee practices throughout the year. but hey! i did the most AMath questions i did in my entire life yesterday okay? i can't believe i did from question to question, one after another.
-____________-
but i guess all that sorta helped out for today coz otherwise i would've never figured out how to solve PDF problems (esp Normal ones) and other simple problems. LOL as you can see i HATE math. AMath to be exact. I never practiced it if i could. even during test weeks, i'd leave it to the last and distract myself with other subjects first. yes, it's always the last on my to-do list, which i almost always never succeed in completing...................

hahaha. so what, right? it's OVER now!!! OMG! i can't believe it! i don't have to contaminate my hands touching AMath anymore in my entire life!! wooohoooooooooooooooooooo! :) (AMath, as of today, I am officially DUMPING you. we're over dude. go get a life.)

Other exams i've done already such as EALD(hate essay), Chem(yay) and HumanBio(yay) were quite well done... i guess.. and i'll say it again that i'm glad i've done my best, and didn't have to go through the "shit-i-shoulda-study-harder" feeling. Thank God for that.

Also lotsa credit to Him up above for granting me my super inhumane powers. it really worked. like seriously. when i panicked so much for Human and Chem i actually managed to finish the whole syllabus of Chem(reading chem notes) within one afternoon and night; and finished Human within one day. Amazing right? i could never have done that on my own. [sorry vic dunno why this 'super inhumane powers' failed transmission.. =.= but who cares now that you're all done? lol]

haha. that reminds me.
BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all those who have already FINISHED TEE! as in done with Year 12, done with highschool & HS exams, done with stinkin textbooks, done with painfully blistered & cramped hand muscles(not to mention blue-purple fingers due to ink leaks; i had that alot esp durin HBio & Chem) and post-war rooms.(right vic? lol)

to the glorious people who never has to step into Bosisto Hall ever again:
1. Naomi Yeo (how dare you leave early for Chem?? i din even get a chance to say goodbye! T_T)
2. Beverly Neo
3. Victoria Wong aka Melbu
4. Iyesha Jay (gonna watch anime now? lol)
5. Deedy Jariyavarapong
6. Felicia Toh
7. Ying Teo

Congratulations again people. :) well done! XD

and to those who only have one more left: STUDY HARD!!!! ITS THE LAST OF THE LAST YOU'LL EVER HAVE TO STUDY FOR!!!!
those people are:
1. Physics students (this fri: shareen, ellie & deb)
2. Accounting students (next tues: rach, adeline, tam, wanshing, wanyu and me)
3. Jap students (next fri: reen, mich & des)

Good luck guys!
:)

-Thessalonians 3:3-
"But the Lord is faithful; he will make you strong and guard you from the evil one."(evil one=my distractions)

Okay. i shall resist all temptations. i will focus. coz i'm gonna crush Accounting so badly it will curse the day it was born. i'll make sure it will never see my face again. oh yes i will. Muahahahha.

Accounting, BEWARE. I'm out to get you.

Stress levels at its peak.

I will make the impossible possible.

okay so i'm a little bit behind schedule.
and it's piling up.

I'm afraid.

i see Applics in my dreams.
and it's haunting me.

I'm scared.

Cortisol's working in me with "too-high" a level to concentrate on Chem.

I'm terrified.

Will i be able to finish what i must finish??

I will, I'm going to and I can.
Oh God, please grant me super inhumane powers for these two weeks. don't worry i'll be sure to return them to you on the 18th on November at 12.30pm.
Please skewer, burn&destroy my distractions and temptations so that they do not interfere with my critical and most crucial moment in battle. I'm gonna win this battle - the battle against my self. Yes, I will.

"For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need."
